Radha Thomas was born in Tamil Nadu, grew up in Mumbai and Delhi and then left for the USA to pursue her dream of becoming a jazz singer. When she discovered that music wasn’t good for keeping body and soul together, she held a variety of day-jobs while singing in clubs at night, sharing the stage with many of New York’s renowned jazz artists. She has been a tour guide in Australia, New Zealand and Fiji, organized trade shows and exhibitions in China, owned and run a boutique on Long Island, and worked for an art publisher in New York.
She returned to India after about twenty years and found work in a publishing company, writing a column called ‘Between the Sexes’, a look at the odd way in which men and women see each other. She used to host a weekly jazz show on Radio Indigo in Bangalore, called, ‘Indigo and Blues.’
She is also a trained Dhrupad singer and currently works for Explocity.com in Bangalore as VP Business Development.
Her band UNK: The Radha Thomas Ensemble has been gaining some traction in the past few years performing all over India. In the summer of 2012, she released her first album as band leader called, ‘I Only Have Eyes For You.’ The album has received excellent reviews but as she says, “It ain’t gonna feed the pigs.”
‘Men On My Mind’ is her first novel in a series of three novels. “Men, that’s a subject that can’t really be exhausted, now can it?” she asks. The sequel was released in July, 2014. Called, ‘More Men On My Mind,’ it picks up where MOMM left off and takes the reader deeper into a woman’s mind… and body.
